Original colour; short centrefold split (repaired) in lower margin and a smaller one at the tope edge, minor darkening of centrefold due to guard paste and very light overall age-toning of paper, otherwise a good example.
A fine chart covering the Western Approaches, shows Southern Ireland, the SW parts of England and Wales, the Western part of Brittany and NW Spain and Cape Finisterre. Decorative figured cartouche to right. According to Koeman, Doncker's charts were the most up-to-date in the second-half of the 17th century. KOEMAN, IV, pp.152-155. Don 12 B.

Uncoloured; lightly age-toned, some soiling and staining mostly to margins, minor staining on map, with some contempoary annotations, two small worm holes to centrefold area, otherwise good condition.
A rare chart of the north coast of Cornwall, Devon and Somerset and the South Coast of Wales. Inset detail of the Scilly Isles. Arnold Colom son of Jacob Arentsz Colom and Barbertge Jans, was born in 1623 or 24 and died in 1668. This chart is probably from 'De Vyerighe Colom' and coincides with the Koeman reference J.Col 7.

Some original colour; restored and laid on archivist tissue, some manuscript re-instatment of printed loss, mainly to line borders, re-margined to facilitate framing, otherwise a fair example of this extremely rare chart.
An extremely rare chart of the south coast of Cornwall and part of Devon, shows from Portland to Cape of Cornwall, north of Lands End. The Scilly Isles are shown in position. Soundings in fathoms, safe anchorage and sand banks are marked. RARE.

Published in Captain Greenville Collins' 'Great Britain's Coasting Pilot'. Fine title cartouche of the Avon Gorge being navigated by a sailing vessel and the City of Bristol in detail. MCC 58, item 46.

Engraved by J. Harris and published in Captain Greenville Collins' 'Great Britain's Coasting Pilot', as first state. A chart of the whole island, showing the Hurst narrows, the Needles, the Solent and across to Hayling Island. Detail on the island itself includes plans of Yarmouth and Newport.

Uncoloured; some minor spotting and age-toning thoughout, one or two slightly darker spots, some marginal soiling, but overall the paper quality is good and strong without any tears or splits.
An unsigned chart of the part of the English Channel, between Sussex and Normandy. I am fairly sure it is not Seller or Thornton, but of English origin. Because of the style and paper type I have assumed it to be late 17th century. The chart covers the English coast between the Isle of Wight and South Foreland, across the Channel to France and the coast between the Cherbourg Peninsular and Calais. Inset is a more detailed chart of the Isle of Wight and the coast of Hampshire.

Finely detailed, with sandbanks, soundings in fathoms, safe anchorage and tidal information. Inset map of the Isle of Wight and the English coast from Dorset to Sussex. Highly decorative figured title cartouche.

Published in the 'De Spieghel der Zeevaerdt' and engraved by Johannes Doetecom. The first printed chart of the area. Decorated with sea monsters, a magnificent compass rose and a sailing ship.

A superbly detailed chart of the Lizard in Cornwall, with all the hazards, rocks, shoals and depths displayed in fathoms. A fine example of the engravers art, J & C Walker have used clever hatchering to indicate the land-fall and steepness of the cliffs. Inset two profiles of the land-mass.
