A fine chart covering the Western Approaches, shows Southern Ireland, the SW parts of England and Wales, the Western part of Brittany and NW Spain and Cape Finisterre. Decorative figured cartouche to right. According to Koeman, Doncker's charts were the most up-to-date in the second-half of the 17th century.

An unsigned chart of the part of the English Channel, between Sussex and Normandy. I am fairly sure it is not Seller or Thornton, but of English origin. Because of the style and paper type I have assumed it to be late 17th century. The chart covers the English coast between the Isle of Wight and South Foreland, across the Channel to France and the coast between the Cherbourg Peninsular and Calais. Inset is a more detailed chart of the Isle of Wight and the coast of Hampshire.

Original, with some recent embellishment after cleaning; some expert restoration to small holes in the top left portion of the chart, this has something to do with the original colouring on the header to the text on the verso, cetrefold restored and strengthened, these repairs only really visible when held up to the light, now completely stabilsed and de-acidified, overall a good example.
An example of the earliest printed chart showing the East Anglian coast of England. This example with place names and text in English appears to be re-worked with minor differences from the earlier plate in Latin. Shows the coast from Walberswick and just south to a place named Easton Ness, possibly East Bridge and north to Burnham and around to Snettisham (shown on the coast).. From the English text edition of the 'Spieghel der Zeevaerdt' or 'The Mariners Mirrour', translated by Anthony Ashley, clerk of the Privy Council, who used the Latin edition of 1586 as a model. RARE. Engraved by Theodore de Bry, with his initials in the bottom left corner.

A highly detailed chart of the Scilly Isles with five elevations showing the appearance of the islands from different approaches and an inset depicting St. Agnes lighthouse. Soundings in fathoms and sailing directions are given. There is a note by Gillstone Rocks; "Sir Cloudesly Shovel was lost here in the Association the 22nd of October 1707 at night." And off St'Mary's another note stating "Here the body of Sir Cloudesly Shovel was thrown up and buried; but afterwards taken up by the Purser of the Arundel".
